Scientist of the Week...

This week, Nicholas showed us the effects of certain beverages, like soda, gatorade, or coffee, on our teeth and the importance of brushing twice a day! Good work, Nicholas!

Human Body....

We learned this week about how to stay healthy and practiced naming our body parts. Here are the kids making a collage of various body parts then adding labels.

Jog-a-thon

American Symbols...

Here is our completed American Symbols project. Each student chose a symbol, then gathered with other students, who also chose that symbol, to complete a writing activity. From there, each student memorized the part they would present. I am SO proud of how hard they worked and how well they presented their information. Please enjoy this video and feel free to share it with your friends and family!

America!!

We have completed a fun study of some important American Symbols, including the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Bald Eagle, American Flag, Statue of Liberty, and the Liberty Bell. We completed a few directed drawings, projects, and writing activities as part of our unit.
In learning about the Statue of Liberty, we took a survey asking if we thought our class, when standing shoulder to shoulder, was longer, shorter, or the same length, as the actual size of the Statue of Liberty's foot (25 feet). Here were our results!

Scientist of the Week Updates!

I have 3 scientists of the week to update you all with! Check out some pictures from Johnny, Leeyah, and Savannah's experiments...

Johnny demonstrated how blubber, an extra layer of fat, works for an Arctic animal. It's so awesome to think about how God purposefully designed these animals with blubber in order to survive in their environment! Great job, Johnny!

Next, Leeyah showed our class how you can get a hard boiled egg into a bottle. The pressure from the hot air, turned cool, sucked the egg into the bottle! We ooh'd and ahhh'd over this one! Great work, Leeyah!

This week, Savannah showed us how just a touch of dish soap could break apart the fat molecules in milk to give an awesome color show! So much fun! Great job, Savannah!
